ATLANTA - Police are looking for a suspect who stole a patrol car at gunpoint as he was being taken to jail. <br>

Officers arrested the suspect on drug charges about 4 a.m. Thursday at a public housing complex, Grady Homes. <br>

He was being taken to jail in the car when he pulled out a small handgun, pointed it at the officer driving the patrol car and ordered him to give up the car. <br>

The suspect drove the car a couple of blocks before crashing it. <br>
<br>
The officer managed to get away and was not hurt. <br>
<br>
It's unclear whether the suspect was handcuffed and how he managed to keep the gun. It's procedure for arresting officers to pat down suspects before putting them in a patrol car.
