Donald Ray Cole, 39, shot Cynthia L. Cole, 33, four times shortly after she had picked up the boy from an afterschool program Wednesday, Carroll County sheriff`s Chief Deputy Brad Robinson.
``It is apparent from the scene that the truck veered off into her path, causing her to slow down,'' Robinson said. `She tried to go around his vehicle and he backed up, hitting her car.''
Armed with a 9mm handgun, Cole fired into her car, hitting her in the head, left arm and side. Her son jumped from the car and ran to a passing motorist. Cole then shot himself in the head.
Mrs. Cole had filed a family violence report Sept. 11, alleging that Cole threatened her. The boy was her son from a previous marriage.
