ARLINGTON, TEXAS - The Texas Rangers Thursday put lefthanded pitcher John Rocker on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of giving him unconditional release.
Also, the Rangers won't exercise their 2003 contract option with catcher Bill Haselman. He's eligible to file for free agency next month.
Rocker was acquired from Cleveland last December.
He's 13-and-22 with 88 saves in 278 major league appearances with Atlanta, Cleveland, and Texas.
Haselman this year batted .246 with three homers and 18 RBI's in 69 games as Rangers backup catcher to Evan Rodriguez.
Haselman also played for Seattle, Boston, and Detroit in his ten-year major league career.
