GAINESVILLE - Volunteers with Gainesville-Hall County Adopt-A-Stream took to the water and shoreline Saturday morning, cleaning up about four miles of Flat Creek.
The Adopt-A-Stream Coordinator, Brian Wiley, says interest in the agency's yearly clean-up effort has been growing.
"We...get people out and about to be certified for monitoring and also to help in stream cleanup," Wiley said. "So, over the past two years we've had a much better success."
The volunteers concentrated on a section of Flat Creek around Gainesville's Flat Creek Treatment Plant.
Wiley says it was part of a statewide river cleanup effort.

"Rivers Alive is a statewide program in which different counties...beging picking up little right around the same time frame in the month of October."
