Deputy sheriff Jody Shupe says 45-year-old Lorenzo Critten of Lithonia was charged with murder Tuesday.
Investigators say the victim -- whose hands had been cut off -- died of a gunshot wound to the chest.
Two workers found the body Monday morning along Farmer Road, an industrial parkway east of Atlanta.
Investigators later discovered both severed hands behind a warehouse.
Shupe says the case has been turned over to authorities in DeKalb County, where the killing apparently took place.
Authorities have not released the victim's name. He's believed to be in his 40s.
