TULSA, OKLAHOMA - Tulsa coach John Phillips said Wednesday sophomore J.T. Ivie has decided to quit the basketball team.
Ivie, a six-foot-nine, 299-pound center from Cornelia, Georgia, sat out last season after undergoing shoulder surgery. He played two games as a freshman in 2000-01 before injuring a knee and getting a medical hardship.
Phillips said, ``J.T. indicated that he doesn't want to play college basketball. I'm disappointed because the timing of his decision just prior to the start of practice does not allow us to use that scholarship for this season.''
