ORLANDO, FLORIDA - Tracy McGrady scored 12 of his 21 points in the third quarter as Orlando defeated the Atlanta Hawks 98-86 in the Magic's preseason home opener Thursday night.

Mike Miller added 17 points, 11 in the first half, and Grant Hill had 10 points, six assists and five rebounds for Orlando (1-1). McGrady shot 9-for-18 after missing all but two of 11 shots in a loss at Atlanta on Tuesday.

Alan Henderson scored 13 points to lead the Hawks (1-1). Darvin Ham and Theo Ratliff added 10 points apiece.

Starting guards Dion Glover and Jason Terry added nine points each. Glover had five rebounds but missed six of nine shots, while Terry had four turnovers.

First-round pick Dan Dickau had three points on 1-of-8 shooting, including misses on all five 3-point tries. He added four assists.

In the roster fight among Orlando's big men, Obinna Ekezie might have put himself ahead with 10 points and six rebounds in 19 minutes while committing only two fouls. On Tuesday, he fouled out in 12 minutes.

Pat Burke had four points and four rebounds, while Shawn Kemp had two points in seven minutes.

In the first half, the teams combined for 33 fouls and 20 turnovers.

NOTES: Orlando forward-center Horace Grant, recovering from left knee surgery, did not dress for the game. But he did take part in the morning shootaround, his first action of the preseason, and might practice Friday. ... Atlanta was without Glenn Robinson (left quadriceps strain) and Ira Newble (infected right big toe). ... Also, Mario Bennett did not make the trip. No reason was given for his absence, but the Hawks said he is still with the team.
