Serial bank robber hits in Suwanee

SUWANEE - A serial bank robber struck in Gwinnett County again. The so-called "freckle face bandit" robbed a bank in Suwanee Friday.

Gwinnett County Police Corporal Ray Dunlap said the suspect is Zachary Paul Hannasch, 20. He's been hitting Sun Trust banks in Publix stores, almost exclusively.

"At one point about three weeks ago, he hit two banks one right after the other, robbed one, apparently got in his vehicle and drove right straight to another one and robbed it. This is somebody that we really need to get off the street," Dunlap said.

Authorities described Hannasch as 5'11'', 190 pounds and white with strawberry blond hair. He was last driving a stolen black 1998 Nissan 240 sx.

"He is wanted in at least six bank robberies in metro Atlanta in recent weeks," Dunlap said.

The F.B.I. is involved along with authorities in Savannah, where Hannasch allegedly has also robbed banks. He allegedly hit the SunTrust Bank in the Publix Shopping Center on Highway 20 in Sugar Hill Thursday.
