FLOWERY BRANCH - Ray Buchanan has returned to the Atlanta Falcons.

The cornerback practiced with the Falcons Monday -- ending a four-game suspension the NFL imposed after he tested positive for anabolic steroids.

Defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said Buchanan will return to his starting spot on the left side of the secondary.

Juran Bolden -- who replaced the ten-year veteran -- will become the third cornerback in nickel packages.

Buchanan forfeited more than $600,000 of his team-high $2.65 million salary after he twice tested positive for steroids before Atlanta's season-opening overtime loss at Green Bay.

He said a nutritional supplement containing ephedrine -- a substance banned by the NFL -- made him fail the test.
The Falcons (2-3) take on the Carolina Panthers (3-3) on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
