Months-long investigation nets dozens of suspected drug dealers

CARROLLTON - Authorities arrested dozens of suspected drug dealers in west Georgia Thursday in the culmination of months of undercover work. <br>

Undercover officers bought methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy and prescription drugs before starting to make arrests at 4:30 a.m. <br>
<br>
Carroll County law enforcement, along with the West Georgia Drug Task Force and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, began the undercover work in January. <br>
<br>
GBI spokeswoman Vicky Metz said 89 suspects had been arrested by 2 p.m. Thursday. Authorities had indictments against 142 suspects, and indictments against 32 others were pending. <br>
<br>
Carroll County Sheriff Terry Langley said 19 arrest teams were attempting to find, arrest and book as many of the suspects as possible Thursday. <br>
<br>
Metz said three suspects have died from causes unrelated to the investigation. Another 14 were already in Carroll County jail on other charges.
