Turner part of counterfeit investigation

STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI - Mississippi State freshman tailback Nick Turner, who graduated from Washington High School in Atlanta, reportedly is part of an investigation into the passing of counterfeit hundred dollar bills at a Starkville nightclub.<br> <br> Starkville Police Chief David Lindley says no charges have been filed against Turner.<br> <br> Authorities said the bogus bills were passed at the Remington Hunt Club, a Starkville nightspot, on Tuesday night. Club owner Bill Norris, who notified the police after discovering five bogus bills near closing time, said the 18-year-old Turner was escorted from his business in handcuffs by Starkville police officers.<br> <br> Starkville police Detective Bill Lott acknowledged Thursday that police are looking into the passing of counterfeit currency but declined further comment.<br> <br> Mickey Nelson, a Jackson-based agent of the Secret Service, said his office is investigating the case. Nelson said there have been several reports of phony hundred dollar bills being passed in the Starkville area recently.<br> <br> Although Turner hasn&#39;t played in Mississippi State&#39;s past two games after spraining an ankle September 28 at LSU, he is on State&#39;s 68-player travel roster for Saturday night&#39;s game at Memphis.
