ATLANTA - Atlanta Braves hitting coach Terry Pendleton taught Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick how to slide before Sunday's game.
Vick said he wanted to do a better job of sliding at the end of runs to avoid taking severe hits.
So a Falcons vice president asked his former neighbor and Braves pitcher Kevin Millwood for help, and Millwood gave Pendleton a call.
Vick hadn't played baseball since ninth grade, and even then he slid headfirst. It paid off for Vick yesterday. Vick got down at the end of a 24-yard run in the third quarter with an adequate slide.
