SAVANNAH - Republican Max Burns is attacking Democrat Champ Walker Junior for personal lapses in a tight race for Congress in the 12th Congressional District.
The district stretches from Savannah to August to Athens.
Burns' attacks on Walker range from arrests that were never prosecuted to Walker's fathering a child with his wife before they married.

In a recent interview, Burns called himself, ``the individual that has lived a life that will not embarrass my wife and my children.''

Burns wants to convince voters that Walker -- now 34 and an Augusta businessman -- lacks the character to represent the district.
Walker campaign spokesman Doug Moore accuses Burns -- a Sylvania college professor -- of trying to ``tear down a person so he can go to Congress.''
