ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE - The mother of an airman found dead in his dormitory room after drinking himself to death blamed the incident on a lack of supervision.
An autopsy showed that Airman 1st Class Eric Paternoster had a 0.468 blood-alcohol level, high enough to kill him.
Judy Paternoster said most people at Robins have their own rooms, unlike the old-style barracks from the past.
``There's no supervision, not even a roommate,'' she told The Macon Telegraph. ``If he had even a roommate, Eric might not have died.''
Houston County medical examiner James Whitaker said the death was accidental, but the Air Force Office of Special Investigation is continuing to investigate.
County coroner Danny Galpin said Eric Paternoster, 19, had been drinking with friends Wednesday night. A friend found him in his room before 6 a.m. on Oct. 17, alone and not breathing.
Paternoster was buried last Friday in Pennsylvania on what would have been his 20th birthday.
