World Trade Center subway station reopens

NEW YORK - In another sign that New York City is getting back on its feet, the World Trade Center station of the E subway line reopened Monday for the first time since Sept. 11.<br> <br> Passenger Ivan Querdala said the restored service would help his routine return to normal, though life in lower Manhattan still felt strange.<br> <br> &#34;When you go down there and see that,&#34; he said, jerking his head toward the World Trade Center site, &#34;You get a different sense.&#34;<br> <br> The station was not damaged Sept. 11 but was closed as part of the &#34;frozen zone&#34; during the recovery effort, New York City Transit President Lawrence Reuter said.<br> <br> The E train, which travels from lower Manhattan into Queens, had been stopping several blocks north of the trade center since Sept. 11. Plans are under way to change the station&#39;s name, the transit agency said.<br> <br> Luis Montalvo said returning to the station that had been his normal stop until four months ago felt like a small step forward.<br> <br> &#34;No doubt about it, it&#39;s getting back to normal,&#34; he said. <br> <br>
