GAINESVILLE - When the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board meets Tuesday, it will be asked to consider increase the number of lots in a 200-plus home subdivision under development on Hope Road.
Gainesville Fire Chief Dick Taylor has asked the planning board not to approve Land Sellutions' request which would increase the number of lots by 40 to 285.
However, the planning staff is recommending approval of the application.
Chief Taylor says there is what he calls "excessive response time" for the fire department to the development, which is 6-to-8 miles from downtown Gainesville.
The board is also scheduled to hear a request involving property in a part of town which has seen several zoning requests in recent years, some of them controversial.
The planning staff is recommending denial of a request to rezone two parcels at Park Hill and Enota so that a medical office can locate there.
