PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA - Stanford has scheduled a Wednesday news conference to introduce its new football coach, with Florida assistant Buddy Teevens expected to get the job.
Reports out of Florida and California say Teevens will get the job over Mike Riley, who interviewed for the job just a week after being fired as the San Diego Chargers' head coach.
Teevens was hired as Dartmouth's coach in 1987 by Stanford athletic director Ted Leland. Teevens spent last season as Florida's assistant offensive coordinator and tight ends coach. He also was a head coach at Maine and Tulane.
The Cardinals began their coaching search when Tyrone Willingham resigned last week to take the Notre Dame job.
Riley was fired by the Chargers last week after going 14-and-34 in three seasons. He also spent two years as Oregon State's head coach.
