Several Hall teams ready for big region games

GAINESVILLE - A big night of region action gets underway for several local basketball teams Friday night. On WDUN Newtalk 550, the East Hall Vikings take on highly ranked Greater Atlanta Christain at Valhalla. The defending State Champion boys are already adjusting to life without Matt Causey, now at Berkmar. "Our basketball team needs to regroup and have another great year," said Coach Seth Vining. As for GAC, Coach Vinings team is coming off a ten point victory over Dawson County. But GAC will still be a big challenge, "They've won nine out of their last eleven games on our home floor." On AM 1240 WGGA, Gainesville travels to county rival Johnson. Girl's coach Manson Hill says this one is pretty big. "It will be a big game on Friday night. They will go a long way to decide, going down to Johnson and seeing how we can do." The Lady Red Elephants are still trying to help Tasha Humpry out with all of those double and triple teams on her. "If she's one on one, there are not very many people that are going to be able to stop her. We are just trying to get her in that team concept. And she full heartedly accepts that. We just have to help her learn what to do next," said Coach Hill. Tasha made the Atlanta Tipoff Club's girls' prep team of the month. Another region challenge for Virgil Amey and the Elephant boys, "Johnson is playing some pretty good basketball. Their record may not indicate that, but they are playing some solid basketball." Game time for both game is around 7:00. Also West Hall is at Newton County, Spartan Boys' coach Warren Seller figures the Rams will be ready. "We go down to Newton County next Friday, and we beat them up there in over time, so they are going to be laying in wait for us."
