Piedmont, North Georgia women win

DEMOREST- It was a split Thursday night in Demorest for the Piedmont College basketball teams.<br> <br> The Lady Lions dominated Wesleyan 86-52, while the Lions fell to Tennessee Temple 74-66.<br> <br> The Piedmont women placed four players in double figures, led by Meredith Tallant with 21. Jodie Thomas and Tara Cohron added 18 each, and Jennifer Taylor chipped in 11. Cohron also pulled down eight rebounds. Tawana Moon had 10 boards and eight points in the win.<br> <br> The Piedmont men were not as fortunate, suffering an eight point loss.<br> <br> Tremayne Pender had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lions (6-5) in the loss. Caleb Baker had 13 points for Piedmont. Tennessee Temple was led by Josh Templeton with 23.<br> <br> East Hall grads Tavarvess Ware and Derrick Cheeks scored five and one respectively. Ware also had two rebounds and a steal, while Cheeks had a rebound and two assists. North Hall alum Jacob Thome scored five points, and pulled down two boards before having to be helped from the court after a knee injury.<br> <br> Members of this season&#39;s East Hall and North Hall high school teams had travelled to Demorest Thursday night to watch the game. The Vikings host the Trojans Saturday night.<br> <br> Elsewhere in women&#39;s basketball, Courtney Hester out of North Hall had 21 points to help North Georgia College and State University women&#39;s team over Reinhardt 96-76 in Waleska Thursday night.<br> <br> Keisha Hall led the Lady Saints with 32 points and also stole the ball eight times.<br> <br> Angelyn Love had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Lakeview graduate Holly Vandiver chipped in four points in the win.<br> <br> The NAIA number five ranked Lady Saints carry a 16-1 record into Americus at Georgia Southwestern Thursday.<br>
