Three-alarm blaze guts office building in downtown Macon

MACON - Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire Thursday night at a two-story office building in downtown Macon that housed a cab company and shoe store. <br>

A December 27 fire that damaged three other buildings has been classified as suspicous by state Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine. <br>
<br>
Officials say firefighters responded to a call last night around 10:30 p.m. The three-alarm blaze gutted the building but no serious injuries were reported. <br>
<br>
District fire chief Donald Braswell says, ``It looks like it was pretty advanced when we got there. It took approximately an hour to an hour and half to bring it under control.'' <br>
<br>
He says 60-65 firefighters were on the scene.
