TOCCOA - A 14-year-old Toccoa girl was accidentally shot and killed by her boyfriend Friday night, police said. <br>

Brittany Turpin, a freshman at Stephens County High School, was killed by a single gunshot to the head from the .22-caliber rifle of a 14-year-old boy.<br>

The boy was working on the rifle at his kitchen table when the gun went off, authorities said. <br>

Police have not named the boy but said the shooting appears to have been accidental. <br>
<br>
The boy's family didn't have a phone and were forced to pound on a neighbor's door to call an ambulance. Authorities pronounced the girl dead on the scene.
