Jacksonville ends Panthers' home win streak

ATLANTA - Kevin Sheppard scored 21 points and James Daniels had 14 as Jacksonville beat Georgia State 84-72, ending the Panthers&#39; 25-game home winning streak. <br> <br> The Dolphins (12-5, 6-2 Atlantic Sun) held Georgia State to 42 percent shooting and won for the sixth time in seven games. The Dophins held a 40-31 rebounding advantage and scored 14 points off turnovers to Georgia State&#39;s four. <br> <br> ``We knew we were deeper than they were,&#39;&#39; said Sheppard, who also recorded five assists and three steals. ``They had a bunch of guys playing 28, 30 minutes a game. That&#39;s why we were trapping, not so much for the steals, but to wear them down.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Georgia State (9-6, 5-3) got 24 points from Nate Williams, but an 8-0 spurt by Jacksonville&#39;s Travis Robinson midway through the second half proved too much for the Panthers to overcome. <br> <br> Jacksonville put up a 13-3 run midway through the opening half, which featured nine lead changes, and led 32-29 at the break. <br> <br> ``They deserved to win,&#39;&#39; said Georgia State coach Lefty Driesell. ``They outhustled us, outfought us ... When you give up 84 points on your home court, you&#39;re not going to win many.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> The Dolphins led by as many as six early in the second half. Georgia State pulled even on a pair of free throws by Williams with 9:32 left, but Jacksonville got a 3-pointer and a dunk in the next 30 seconds from Robinson, who added another 3-pointer to complete the run. <br> <br> ``That was huge for us,&#39;&#39; said Jacksonville coach Hugh Durham. ``He&#39;s done the same thing for us all year. That was a point where they were in a position to get momentum.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> The Dolphins, who won their fifth straight on the road, pushed their lead to 68-58 on Antwan Robertson&#39;s three-point play with 4:21 left to get the lead to double figures. <br> <br> Georgia State&#39;s only second-half lead came at 38-37 on a short jumper by Thomas Terrell, who scored 16 points. <br> <br> Terrell, the Atlantic Sun Conference leading scorer, scored just one point in the opening period. Leroy Davis added 10 for Georgia State.
