New traffic enforcement officers for HCSO

GAINESVILLE - The Hall County Sheriff's Department plans to use a $600,000 state grant to add three positions to it's traffic enforcement division - the first since 1990.

Sheriff Steve Cronic says while the positions will have to be funded entirely by the county after three years, they are slots he would have to add anyway because of the growth of the country.

Sheriff Cronic says the additions will bring to ten the number of officers assigned to the department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, better known as "STEP."
