ATLANTA - Sixteen Georgia schools - including Mount Vernon Elementary in Hall County - have been given state awards in excellence.
State school Superintendent Linda Schrenko made the announcement Tuesday.
Nine elementary, four middle and three high schools were dubbed the 2002 Georgia School of Excellence award winners.
It is possible for 33 schools to be given the award from each of Georgia's 11 congressional districts. Each school district was invited to nominate one elementary school, one middle school and one high school.
