He originally was charged with murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the death of Kentoya Robinson. The toddler died of blunt force trauma to the head May 19 at the foster home.
Police said the boy, who had lived in the home since he was 5, killed Kentoya while the girl was briefly in his care.
He faces up to 10 years in prison on the involuntary manslaughter charge and one to 20 years on the cruelty charge.
