TRENTON - The old state flag is now the official banner of the northwest Georgia town of Trenton.
Officials of the city of about two thousand residents coupled the declaration with a decision to post a plaque bearing the Ten Commandments at City Hall.

The old Georgia flag was replaced by the Legislature last year because of controversy about the Confederate battle emblem, which many consider a racist symbol.

But Trenton officials adopted the old flag without any public opposition.
The city currently flies Georgia's new state flag and the American flag outside the municipal building. A second flagpole will be erected for the old state flag.
City officials say the state flag shouldn't have been changed.
