Kroger to build massive warehouse in Delaware

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Kroger Co. is building a huge warehouse on a site along U.S. 36 on the east side of the city that will employ more than 600 people. <br> <br> The company announced plans for the $69 million project on Wednesday. <br> <br> About 230 new workers will be hired, with the rest of the jobs filled by employees transferred from current warehouses in Columbus, Groveport and Whitehall. <br> <br> The 750,000-square-foot facility will serve 120 Kroger stores in central and southern Ohio and northern West Virginia. <br> <br> Construction is expected to begin in the spring, with the opening sometime next year, the company said. <br> <br> Kroger plans to continue to use the Whitehall building, while those in Columbus and Groveport will be vacated. <br> <br> <br>
