ATLANTA - Governor Barnes has appointed a new solicitor to replace former Henry County Solicitor John Rutherford, who was suspended after being indicted on bribery charges. <br>

Barnes appointed McDonough attorney Charles Spahos. <br>

The 31-year-old Spahos will replace Rutherford, who is charged with taking bribes to drop driving under the influence cases. <br>
<br>
A three-member commission decided that Rutherford should be dismissed until the charges are resolved. <br>
<br>
The solicitor prosecutes misdemeanor cases in the county's State Court.
