DECATUR - A judge has ordered the jailing of former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Andre Rison until he has paid $10,000 in child support for his two teen-age sons.
Superior Court Judge Cynthia Becker issued a bench warrant for Rison after he failed to appear in her DeKalb County court Jan. 10 to answer contempt charges for once again getting behind in payments.
Rison paid $52,000 in back payments last summer after the boys' mother, Raycoa Handley, filed a complaint in court. The latest complaint said he fell behind again.
Rison's lawyer, Max Richardson Jr., said Rison ``just ran into some economic problems.''
Last month, Rison opened a nightclub in Atlanta and he plans to play pro football again, Richardson said.
``Andre's heart's as big as gold,'' Richardson said. ``It's unfortunate that he's gotten behind.''
