Stetson nips Mercer

MACON - Derrick DeWitt hit a clutch 3-pointer with 2:54 left and Ravii Givens added two free throws with 10.2 seconds left to lift Stetson to a 58-55 win over Mercer on Monday. <br> <br> Givens led Stetson (8-11, 4-9 Atlantic Sun Conference) with 13 points, while DeWitt and Alexis McMillan had 10 each. Junior Aleem Muhammad led Mercer (3-18, 1-11) with 20 points and three blocks, and center Justin Howard added 18 points and 10 rebounds. <br> <br> Mercer lost its 11th straight game despite outshooting Stetson 47 percent to 36. <br> <br> Stetson led by 15 in the first half and by eight at intermission. Jay January&#39;s 12-footer capped Mercer&#39;s comeback and tied it at 49 with 4:36 left. Stetson took a 53-49 lead on free throws and never trailed after that.
