ATLANTA - Nate Williams and Thomas Terrell were embarrassed by their last game, never mind that Georgia State won it by 19 points.
The Panthers' two leading scorers combined for eight points against Jacksonville State Saturday, so Monday was redemption time.
Williams scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds as Georgia State beat Samford 60-48 Monday night, the third straight win for the Panthers.

``The last game was our worst game ever,'' said Williams, who scored 14 points in the second half, including three straight baskets in the final two minutes to put the game away.

``We were talking in a timeout and I just told them to get the ball to me. I did something with it.''

Samford (11-10 overall, 8-5 Atlantic Sun Conference) dropped its third straight game, the Bulldogs' first three-game conference losing streak in five years.

Terrell scored 14, asserting himself for 12 in the first half, and Bam Campbell 10 for Georgia State.

The Bulldogs struggled to 35.8 percent shooting for the game and had just two players score in double figures.

``We played pretty good defense the final five minutes and we showed some points on offense,'' said Georgia State coach Lefty Driesell, who notched his 774th career victory.

Harper led Samford with 11 points and Green added 10.

Georgia State (12-8, 8-5) did not trail in the opening period and led by as many as 13 before intermission.

Terrell's 3-pointer with 4:48 to go capped a 15-4 run and gave the Panthers a 30-17 lead, but Samford outscored them 9-2 the rest of the half to trim the margin to six.

The Bulldogs scored the first seven points of the second half, taking their first lead on Corey Green's hook shot with 18:18 left.

Samford never led by more than two points, and pulled even for the last time with 9:52 to play, when Eddie Harper's steal and layup evened the score at 43.

Terrell's jump shot with 6:09 left capped an 8-0 run that put the Panthers ahead for good, as Samford went 6:31 without a field goal.
