A disparity in the way Hall County and other local school systems view middle school eligibility has led to a change in competition policy.<br>

Beginning Thursday evening at the Hall County Middle School Basketball Tournament at Chestatee Middle, the Hall County schools will only compete against other county middle schools.<br>
<br>
The policy change has to do with different takes on eligibility between Hall County and systems such as Gainesville, Lakeview, and Riverside, and the allowing of some students to "play up" on junior varsity teams.<br>
<br>
The change is expected to affect all sports after the current school year.<br>
