Busch passes Johnson late to take Chicagoland race
Kyle Busch passed Jimmie Johnson after a restart on the next-to-last lap Saturday night to win his seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race of the season. Johnson had gone by Busch with 17 laps remaining in the LifeLock.com 400. But on the restart after the ninth caution, Busch went high on the track at Chicagoland Speedway and got by Johnson and held on for yet another victory.

Venus beats Serena for 5th Wimbledon singles title
Reprising their Sister Slam Show in the Wimbledon final after a five-year hiatus, Venus and Serena Williams smacked big serves, hit hard strokes from all angles and chased down seemingly unreachable balls, like no one else does. Overcoming an early deficit, Venus beat Serena 7-5, 6-4 Saturday for her second consecutive title at the All England Club and seventh major championship overall.

Perry helps Braves beat Astros to end skid
The Atlanta Braves were feeling down after five straight losses and the demotion of popular teammate Jeff Francoeur. Jason Perry's debut as the fill-in for Francoeur helped end the drought. Perry hit a run-scoring triple in his first major league at-bat, Tim Hudson gave up only one run in seven innings and the Braves beat the Houston Astros 6-2 Friday night to end their skid.

Kelly avoids fireworks on Fourth of July races
Fireworks on and off the track did not keep Paul Kelly from continuing his outstanding season so far 2008 at Lanier National Speedway. Kelly was either in first or second place for 87 of the 100-lap Pro Late Model feature Friday night at the annual Fourth of July extravaganza at LNS before eventually pulling away in the final 10 laps for the victory.
