Winder-Barrow ended its five-game losing streak to start the season with a 25-17 win over Monroe Area Friday night in Region 8-AAAA play.

The Lumpkin County defense intercepted three passes and held Pickens to under 150 yards for the game in taking a 17-0 Region 7A-AAA win on the road Friday night.

The Creekview girls softball team finished off a perfect run through Region 7-AAA Friday at the Lanier Pointe Softball Complex beating White County 5-0 in the finals to take the region title, its first in school history.

White County and Lumpkin County advanced to the Class AAA girls state softball tournament and top-seed Creekview advanced to the championship round after taking wins Thursday in the Region 7-AAA Tournament at Lanier Point Softball Complex.

Creekview and West Hall became the first two teams to qualify for the Class AAA girls state softball tournament after picking up two wins on the opening day of the Region 7-AAA Tournament at the Lanier Point Softball Complex.
