That was the case Friday night as Gainesville spoiled Johnson’s Senior Night to win 68-21 in a game that was close for a quarter and a half.

Baker capped a wild finish running in a two-point conversion in overtime to give the Wolverines a thrilling 42-41 win over Chestatee.

The Buford Wolves found themselves down three points and 99 yards from the end zone with less than three minutes to go against Blessed Trinity Friday night. But the Wolves responded with a drive that saved the day and their perfect record on the year, as they came back to beat Blessed Trinity 14-10 at Tom Riden Stadium.

Facing a must-win situation Friday night to make the Class AAA playoffs, the Flowery Branch football team came through when it mattered most. The Falcons scored 28 straight points to blow open a close game en route to a 42-16 win over West Forsyth in a critical Region 7B-AAA game for both teams. The winner was assured of a playoff spot while the loser was out based on tiebreakers.

On a rainy Friday night the bad news poured down all over the Chestatee football team’s hopes of making the Class AAA playoffs. The War Eagles could not overcome two costly turnovers, three special teams breakdowns, and numerous big plays by North Hall swamped Chestatee all night in a 55-24 Trojans’ win over their arch-rivals at The Brickyard.
