Playoffs: Jenkins leads Lady Vikings into second round
East Hall’s Jasmine Jenkins may be a freshman, but she sure didn’t play like it Friday night in her first-ever Class AAA state playoff game. Baseball: Falcons open season in impressive style
As baseball openers go, it’s hard find one more impressive than Flowery Branch’s 12-0 rout of Buford Wednesday. The Falcons pounded three Buford pitchers for 13 hits in just five innings as the game was called because of the 10-run Mercy rule. James Mills allowed just three hits and struck out six in a complete-game effort to get the win.

With just 2:14 gone, Mississippi coach Andy Kennedy called a timeout, gathered his players around him, balled his fists next to his face and laid into the Rebels for a less-than-lackluster start against Georgia. They got the message, held the Bulldogs without a point for the next 6 minutes and picked up a 69-47 win on Saturday that has them thinking about March.
