Smoltz makes spring debut in loss to Rays
John Smoltz has been to spring training since 1988 and he says he has never taken any approach different than the one that started him on the way to 207 career wins. He allowed five runs - three earned - in 4 2/3 innings as the Braves lost to the Tampa Bay Rays, 11-10, in a split-squad game on Saturday, but he wasn't fazed.

Eagles set NCAA record with 14 homers vs. Columbia
Georgia Southern set an NCAA record for all divisions Saturday by hitting 14 home runs in a 26-8 victory over Columbia. Chris Shehan and Griffin Benedict each homered twice for Georgia Southern, which had 12 players hit home runs.

Clemson crushes Boston College in ACC tournament; Duke next
The tradition-filled Atlantic Coast Conference tournament has taken an unfamiliar twist: Clemson is sticking around for the weekend. James Mays scored 15 points on Friday and Clemson overwhelmed Boston College with its full-court press, cruising to an 82-48 win to reach the semifinals for the first time in 10 years.
