Macon man arrested after alleged kidnapping, chase in Lawrenceville

Gwinnett County Police have released the name of a man charged in a kidnapping incident and officer-involved shooting Friday evening in Lawrenceville.

Jinsuk Pei, 23, of Macon, was charged with kidnapping, obstruction, aggravated assault on a police officer and interference with government property. 

Gwinnett County Police K9 Nitro found Pei in the woods after he fled from officers on foot.

The victim, identified as Michelle Yeo, 22, of Duluth, sustained minor injuries from the attempted abduction. Police said that the abduction started shortly after 9 p.m. Friday. Yeo was treated and released at the scene.

Gwinnett Police arrested a man Friday they say kidnapped a woman and then fled authorities, leading to an officer-involved shooting in Lawrenceville.

In a release, police said they received a call from a man who said his girlfriend had not returned from running errands. That man then received a call from the woman, who indicated she was in danger.

Police found the suspect's vehicle going west on Duluth Highway near Purcell Road and attempted to stop it. They said the vehicle initially stopped and the woman got out on the passenger's side, but the suspect then fled.

While fleeing, the suspect hit three police vehicles. Officers then fired shots, injuring the suspect, who then fled on foot. He was then arrested after being tracked by K9 officers.

Names of the suspect and victim have not been released. Gwinnett County authorities are investigating the incident.

The victim reportedly suffered minor injuries, including a bite from a police dog when she exited the suspect's vehicle. No officers were injured.
