Gwinnett Tax Commissioner reminds public of property tax due date

By AccessWDUN Staff

Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner Richard Steele is reminding homeowners to pay their 2020 property tax bills before the Dec. 1 deadline.

According to a press release from the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner’s Office, taxpayers are able to pay their bills online at www.GwinnettTaxCommissioner.com/pay.

The release states paying online via e-check is secure and does not include a convenience fee. Because of a CARES Act grant, those paying with a debit or credit card this year will also not be required to pay a convenience fee.

For those mailing their payments, if they are postmarked Dec. 1 or prior, they are accepted. The release lists the payment address as P.O. Box 372, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.

Taxpayers can also pay by check and place the payment in drop boxes 24/7 at any tag office.

Lastly, the public can also pay in person during business hours at any Gwinnett Tax Commissioner’s Office with cash, check, money order, debit card or credit card.

Property owners with escrow accounts must ensure their mortgage company pays the taxes by the due date, according to the release. Taxpayers can check to verify that they have been paid at www.GwinnettTaxCommissioner.com/ViewPayYourTaxes.

Sellers and buyers of homes sold this year receive tax bills because the Jan. 1 owner is responsible for the current year’s taxes. The release states sellers should monitor their accounts to ensure taxes are paid and can find more information at www.GwinnettTaxCommissioner.com/sold.

According to the release, anyone with questions can contact the Tax Commissioner’s Office by email at [email protected], by phone at 770-822-8800 or by online chat at GwinnettTaxCommissioner.com.
