Wreck claims lives of 3 teens, critically injures fourth

TOCCOA -- The Georgia State Patrol confirms an overnight wreck near Martin, in Stephens County, claimed the lives of three teens and critically injured a fourth.

The wreck happened at 12:15 a.m. on Brookhaven Circle.

The vehicle involved was traveling north on Brookhaven Circle while trying to negotiate a right-hand curve, when it failed to maintain its lane and crossed the southbound lane, according to GSP Post 7 in Toccoa.

The vehicle then traveled off the west shoulder of the roadway, striking numerous trees with its left front and top. 

The 18-year-old driver and 16-year-old front-seat passenger were both found deceased in the front seat of the vehicle, according to GSP. One of the 17-year-old back-seat passengers was ejected and found underneath the rear of the vehicle. 

The other 17-year-old back-seat passenger was found partially ejected and hanging out of the back window in critical condition and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
