GAINESVILLE - Elachee Nature Science Center is partnering with REI for National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 24 from 8:00 a.m.-noon.
Activities will include building trails, pulling invasive plants, and monitoring water quality, and installing stone steps. Elachee officials say there will be many "family friendly projects" and all work areas will be close to the main parking lot.
Elachee officials encourage advance registration.
Check-in is at 8:00 with work on the trails beginning at 9:00. Volunteers are asked to bring water in a reusable water bottle and work gloves and should wear long pants and sturdy footwear. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
