Body pulled from Lake was missing Cobb man

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said Sunday night the body pulled from Lake Lanier Saturday was that of a missing Cobb County man.

Robin Lee Wallace of Mableton had been missing since August 31 when two friends said he jumped from their boat near Holly Park about 10:00 p.m. to go for a swim.

The Hall County Sheriff's Department Dive Team searched unsuccessfully for Wallace the rest of that week before suspending the search over the Labor Day holiday weekend because of an expected increase in boat traffic. Then last week, search efforts were hampered by stormy weather as the remnants of Hurricane Frances moved through the area.

The body was found Saturday by boaters.

Merck said Sunday night the body was taken to the Hall County Medical Examiner's office Sunday morning and was confirmed as Wallace's through the use of dental records. He also said an autopsy determined the cause of death, as expected, was drowning.
