Level of Lanier up 1.5+ feet

By by Ken Stanford
BUFORD - The level of Lake Lanier is up by more than 1.5 feet since last Monday, apparently the result of drenching rains from Tropical Depression Frances.

The storm moved through Northeast Georgia, including the Upper Chattahoochee River Basin, last Tuesday.

Rainfall of 4-6 inches was common around the lake and in mountain areas to the north. The level of the lake has risen daily as runoff from the mountains flowed south.

The lake level is 1071.07, an increase of 1.54 feet since last Monday.
