Falcons interested in USC coach Carroll
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Falcons are interested in Southern California coach Pete Carroll for their head coaching job. A person familiar with the team's coaching situation told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the Falcons want to speak with Carroll, who is on vacation in Hawaii. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Falcons have not officially met with Carroll.

Gibbs resigns from Redskins
WASHINGTON -- Joe Gibbs resigned as coach and team president of the Washington Redskins on Tuesday. The Redskins said in a statement that Gibbs will remain part of the Redskins family and serve as a special adviser to owner Dan Snyder. Gibbs was to discuss his decision at a 3 p.m. news conference at Redskins Park.

Vick leaves Virginia to serve prison term in Kansas
RICHMOND, Va. -- Michael Vick left Virginia and was transferred today to a federal prison camp in Leavenworth, Kansas, to serve the rest of his 23-month sentence on a dogfighting charge.

Garrard leads Jags to historic win over Steelers

Seahawks end Redskins' emotional run
The Seattle Seahawks weren't about to play along with the sentimental favorite of this year's playoffs. The Redskins rode the passion and momentum of the last month one more time, overcoming a 13-point, second-half deficit.
