The 12th-ranked North Georgia softball team started its 2013 season off with a Saturday sweep of Florida Southern College and Saint Leo in the Peach Belt Conference-Sunshine State Conference Softball Challenge.

White County snapped a four-game losing streak with a 94-42 blow out win over Banks County Friday night on the road.

The University of North Georgia men's basketball team was sent to the free throw line just once in the second half Thursday night while Columbus State University made 21 attempts from the charity stripe in the Cougar's 75-61 victory over the Saints in a Peach Belt Conference West Division matchup.

Khaalidah Miller scored 11 points off the bench as No. 13 Georgia held off Alabama 65-59 Thursday night in Southeastern Conference action.
