I was a Georgia Bulldog long before I existed. Before you stop reading thinking I’ve gone ’round the existential bend, hear me out. I’m back at work today fresh off a four-day excursion to New Orleans. (Fresh may be stretching it a bit, but for the sake of the bosses out there reading this, I’m Outkast-style fresh and clean.)

The 2017 NASCAR season is complete and Martin Truex Jr. is indeed the champion. Never short on drama, however, news was made both on the track and off heading into and after the finale at Miami-Homestead. In this week's edition of the Hard Left Turn podcast, Around the Track editor Brandon Reed and Katie B. discuss Truex, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s finale and Danica Patrick.

With a win Sunday at Texas, Kevin Harvick punched his ticket to Homestead, joining Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch. Five other drivers - Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson - are still in contention for the fourth and final spot in the title race with one lap to go, if you will.

In Week 10 of the high school football season, region titles were won and playoff berths secured. As the 2017 campaign enters its final week, however, there's still a lot to be determined.

Week 9 of the high school football season had some suprise wins and losses, along with a lot of region reshuffling and more games that went a long way toward defining the true colors of the playoff picture.

Lily Paschall led the way for the top-ranked North Hall volleyball team in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs.

The Gainesville volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with sweeps of Oconee County and East Jackson before winning the program's second-straight Area 8-AAAAAA title. Leading the way for the Red Elephants was senior Savannah Roys who managed 21 aces, 40 kills, 82 assists and 44 digs over the course of the five matches played during the week of Oct. 2.

In her final regular season game for the Buford softball team, senior Logan Caymol threw a no-hitter while striking out 10 in a Lady Wolves win against Flowery Branch. It was the first no-hitter of Caymol's achievement-riddled career and for her efforts, she's the AccessWDUN Athlete of the Week presented by Coca-Cola United.

Region hierarchy is being determined as the high school football season heads into Week 7 in the state of Georgia.
