Week 9 of the high school football season had some suprise wins and losses, along with a lot of region reshuffling and more games that went a long way toward defining the true colors of the playoff picture.

Athlete of the Week: Roys leads the way for Gainesville towards second area volleyball title
The Gainesville volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with sweeps of Oconee County and East Jackson before winning the program's second-straight Area 8-AAAAAA title. Leading the way for the Red Elephants was senior Savannah Roys who managed 21 aces, 40 kills, 82 assists and 44 digs over the course of the five matches played during the week of Oct. 2.
