Army Corps: New Orleans levees holding
Hurricane Isaac made its first U.S. landfall along the southeastern Louisiana coast on Tuesday evening and will continue to move very slowly near the Louisiana coast into Wednesday. At approximately 7:45, the storm came ashore at the mouth of the Mississippi River with sustained winds of 80 mph. Meanwhile, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says that, so far, the levees at New Orleans are holding.
