No. 22 LSU exploded for 12 runs on 15 hits in the first three innings Friday evening as the Tigers defeated Mississippi State, 15-6, in Alex Box Stadium.

Collin Cowgill and Sawyer Carroll each homered and Cowgill finished 3-for-4 with three-RBI, as the No. 22 Kentucky Wildcats utilized three runs in the top of the eighth inning to break open a 2-2 game, handing the Tennessee Volunteers a 5-3 loss in the series-opener, in front of 1,918 fans at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

It was a night for home runs at Swayze Field on Friday, but none bigger than freshman Tim Ferguson's three-run walk-off home run that propelled Ole Miss (32-19, 13-12 SEC) to a 7-6 win over Auburn (26-24, 10-15 SEC) in the series opener.

All it took was his first Darlington Raceway victory to bring out Tony Stewart's softer side. Only two months ago, Stewart angrily blasted Goodyear after the Atlanta race, saying the company had given him "the most pathetic racing tire I've ever been on in my professional career."

ATHENS -- Junior Christie Hamilton tossed a complete-game and freshman Megan Wiggins drove in three runs to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to a 4-2 upset of the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday at the UGA Softball Stadium in front of a record crowd of 1,663.

ATHENS -- Eighth-ranked Georgia smashed four home runs and received a strong outing from junior Nathan Moreau to defeat 25th-ranked Ole Miss 11-4 Sunday to win another Southeastern Conference series.

ATLANTA -- Derek Dietrich hit his 14th homer and drove in five runs to power Georgia Tech to an 11-4 victory over Coastal Carolina on Sunday.

COMMERCE -- Once again, inclement weather prevented Atlanta Dragway personnel from hosting a Summit ET Series event. Saturday's event was canceled due storms that rolled through the area.

BRASELTON -- Eighteen racers in the 20-lap semi-pro Legends race at Lanier National Speedway started innocently enough Saturday night. A wild flurry in the middle of the race, however, whittled the number of cars to six and Justin Swilling came out of the pack to win the race, shortened to 11 laps after more than 30 minutes of cautions, for his first-ever victory at the 3/8ths-mile oval.
