Teixeira homers as Yankees top Braves
Mark Teixeira is fitting in quite nicely with the New York Yankees. The first baseman, who signed an eight-year deal worth $180 million in the offseason, hit his second spring home run and raised his Grapefruit League average to .391 as the Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-4 on Saturday.

Tar Heels, Sooners set for battle of big men
One big man was last year's national player of the year. The other appears poised to take his place. Now, Tyler Hansbrough and Blake Griffin will go head-to-head with a lot more at stake than any individual honor. Hansbrough has led top-seeded North Carolina to within a victory of a second straight Final Four. But to get there the Tar Heels will have to go through Griffin and Oklahoma on Sunday.

UConn outlasts Missouri for Final Four berth
Connecticut is making another trip from the desert to the Final Four. The wait goes on for Missouri. Freshman Kemba Walker scored 23 points as the top-seeded Huskies held off Missouri 82-75 on Saturday to earn a trip to Detroit and extend the Big East's dominance of the NCAA tournament.

Villanova heads to first Final Four since '85 title run
Scottie Reynolds made a half-court dash for the game-winning shot with 0.5 seconds left, leading Villanova over Pittsburgh 78-76 Saturday night and back to the Final Four for the first time since its shocking run to the 1985 championship.

No. 3 Jackets hold off No. 2 Miami
Zach Von Tersch worked five solid innings, and No. 3 Georgia Tech smacked three home runs to down No. 2 Miami, 6-4, Saturday night at Alex Rodriguez Park. Former North Hall standout pitcher Zach Brewster pitched well out of the bullpen to help the Jackets hold off a late rally by the Hurricanes.

Baseball: Falcons' bats break loose in win over Johnson
The rain and the fog did not seem to bother the Flowery Branch offense Wednesday. The Falcons pounded out 19 hits against three Johnson pitchers in taking an 18-5 Region 7-AAA win at Johnson Field.
